Last week our team took in a comprehensive educational tour and enjoyed a relaxing sensory experience at the Pelindaba Lavender
farm while exploring the beautiful landscapes of the San Juan Islands in Washington.
Drawn by Pelindaba's core values of sustainable agriculture, local employment creation, premier quality, and high environmental and aesthetic standards, we knew this unique lavender farm would not disappoint.
All of Pelindaba's certified organic lavender is harvested and distilled on-site to ensure the most ecological practice of production in conjunction with preserving the island's natural farmland. Their vertically integrated business model enables protection and control over the health, purity, and livelihood of the earth in addition to creating a holistic environmental haven for its local inhabitants without compromising quality. The botanical benefits of the products they produce and sell are 100% natural, containing no harmful chemicals or artificial additives to enhance the aroma of the lavender.
Included in one's visit to the lavender farm is a special, personal walking tour of a series of educational stations which cover the process of lavender cultivation, harvesting, processing and distillation. This was a fun and impressive highlight of our visit, learning so much more about lavender than we could have expected!
Most people associate lavender with its delightfully therapeutic properties and medicinal purposes. Come to discover at the Pelindaba Lavender farm the benefits of the plant spans a much wider range of diverse yet practical uses including (but certainly not limited to!) cooking in the kitchen, pet care, and as a safe cleaning agent in the home. Having been equipped with the knowledge about these many uses of lavender, nothing was more fun than to stock our shopping baskets with beautifully packaged goodies and support a business full of integrity and passion for the earth, organic remedies, and healthy communities. Thank you Pelindaba for a wonderfully memorable adventure - we will most definitely be returning for another dose of lavender in the future!
