"Pressing the benefits of organic cotton is rather challenging as 'most of the benefits are felt far from the finished product.' "
- Sarah Compson, standards project manager, Soil Association
As a business that strictly uses organic in all of our cotton products, we know how important organic cotton is to our environment and our health. We were happy to read that recently, the Global Organic Cotton Community hosted an e-discussion (led by Sarah Compson) which focused on brainstorming ways to better communicate and educate consumers about the benefits of organic cotton. Community members who participated in the discussion strongly favored the idea of creating an Organic Cotton World Day. Some initial steps being pursued in an effort to ultimately reach that goal includes pushing for more education in schools around the power of organics as well as scaling the focus of organic textiles across different geographical regions (for example Soil Association will be launching their 'Organic Textile Week' in September in the UK). It is always exciting to feel the beginning stages of a large movement taking place and we strongly admire the progressive ideas expressed by those who share a common passion in bringing awareness to the cause.
